Title: Language in context
Gymnazium Andreja Kmeťa is a young bilingual school that applies CLIL method in about half of all of the obligatory subjects in our school, namely History, Biology, Civics, Geography, Art and Culture, Ethics education, Introduction to humanities and Introduction to sciences.
There are 3 teachers involved in the project.
The project is aimed to improve the overall teaching and English language competence of the teachers in our school as our teachers have to teach specific subjects through English using CLIL as their main method of teaching.
As well our teachers are challenged when talking about assessment and disciplinary issues. Therefore this project seeks the ways to help the teachers dealing with these problems.
Through the improved teaching materials and methods we want to make students not to passively accept everything they are served, but to engage in analytical and critical thinking. This way we would like to pull the student into the main focus of a classroom.
All the above mentioned should make our school more attractive for the possible partners in European mobility programmes. Besides, students inspired by the example of their teachers could take their own initiative to write the similar project to this one.
